About FirstRaven: this is a Personal Hub

FirstRaven provides access to different areas and aspects of my life. I am an artist with history, a family, travels, and some interesting experiences that I like to share with friends.

The site home page provides the directory to my pages and sites.

In 1997 my husband and I left full time Seattle career for a different life in a small community on the Olympic Peninsula. We fled city life to be part of RoseWind Cohousing, a fledgling consensus based community in small town Port Townsend. We built a straw bale home, worked to build the community, & started a tiny software business called FirstRaven Systems. I hold onto this name & this site at FirstRaven.com to keep a little of that past.
Later we retired the business, sold our beautiful straw bale house, and built two adjacent plain and practical modern SIP homes in the same community. The smaller building provides me with a separate art studio.

Everything here is personal

Sharing

I enjoy sharing my passions and activities that will interest at least a few of you. I have found that people enjoy hearing a bit about my art, our building experiences, and more. I chose to share these on the web as a natural evolution of my computing work in the early days of the Web.

I don’t claim to be special, just to have had some interesting experience and a wealth of art work to show off. So yes, this is all very self-centered!

When I moved to Port Townsend it was a thrill to hear and see a local raven pair. Ravens are something of a personal icon, and are native to many places I have lived. While the name FirstRaven alludes to a NW Native legend, for me it is about my personal connection with the Corvidae family, my former membership in Corvidae Press, & the pure joy I feel when I hear a raven’s resonant call.
